SSH Telnet
Uncover what Telnet is and exactly where it’s employed.
Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote server or to exchange info between a hosting server and a client. Because the info exchanged by the two sides is encrypted, a 3rd party cannot intercept it, which makes SSH a favored means of controlling a website hosting account. The commands that may be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared server, for instance, the alternatives are limited because you shall not have root access to the web server, so you could simply create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, import and export databases, etc. These are all actions which are carried out in the shared hosting account and do not require a higher level of access. Using a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall have the option to install server-side software or to restart the web server or just a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, but if you do not use a UNIX-like OS, there are a number of apps for other OSs, that you can employ to connect to the remote hosting server as well.
SSH Telnet in Web Hosting
If the web hosting plan which you’ve picked during the signup process offers SSH access by default, you will be able to activate this function with just a click within your Hepsia Control Panel. If you've picked a different plan, the SSH access feature could be included via the Upgrades menu and it'll become available at once. All the info that you need to connect shall be conveniently listed in the SSH section of the CP - the hostname, the username and the port number. You can also set what password to use from the same location and you shall be able to change it whenever you want. All the commands which are permitted are listed within the Help articles which we've prepared for you, together with examples of the syntax that you have to use. An additional advantage of permitting SSH access to your account is that you will be able to upload files via an SFTP connection.
